Student Essay Bursary

Topic: "”who’s got the ‘write’ of way?” − Have we learned to share the road."

Deadline: April 29, 2011

 

The annual student essay contest provides Alberta junior and senior high school students with a great opportunity to showcase their writing abilities, express their opinions and win money towards their post-secondary education. AASRO encourages the future leaders of our country to examine issues, which are considered important to everyone and express their views for all of us to listen. As a result, we encouraged and participated in establishing an annual essay contest so that the students we so proudly help, have an opportunity to express themselves, in issues that are important to us all.

The Contest is only open to students enrolled in any Alberta junior or senior high school. Essay length: 1500 words. Essays must be double spaced and proofread. Up to three essay's will be accepted from each school. A short endorsement letter must be attached with the essay submitted.

Winners of the bursaries will recieve:

  • Senior High: 1st - $2,500 2nd - $1,000 3rd - $500
  • Junior High: 1st- $1,000 2nd - $300 3rd - $150

Bursaries go towards educational materials, tuition at a post secondary institution of choice or deposited into an RESP.
