Answers

  • What is the Safe Schools Conference?

The Alberta Association of School Resource Officers (AASRO) hosts a yearly Safe Schools Conference in the fall, rotating between Edmonton and Calgary. It’s a collaborative and integrated forum which brings together experts and organizations involved in promoting safe environments in schools and communities. The intent of this conference is to recognize and reinforce our belief that everyone has a vital role to play in positively shaping and impacting Alberta’s young people and their lives. The target audience is school related workers such as school resource officers, teachers, counsellors, administrators; but we encourage all those focused on youth to participate. The Safe Schools Conference is an excellent opportunity to learn new ideas and strategies, take action and begin building solutions together.

  • Who is allowed to attend the annual Safe Schools Conference?

Anyone who works with youth. The target audience for the conference is school related workers such as school resource officers, administrators, teachers, counselors, etc, but if your work is focused on youth, you will likely find that the annual conference is a valuable learning experience. Conference information can be accessed by clicking on the conference link on the left menu. The conference program (usually released four months prior to conference date) will be available in the conference section and the program will outline all the details of the annual event.
