2009 Youth Officer Award RecipientIntroducing Our 2009 Youth Officer

The Board of Directors of the Alberta Association of School Resource Officers (AASRO) is pleased to announce Cst. Jason Lefebvre as the recipient of this year’s Youth Officer Award.

The Youth Officer of the Year award is to recognize one Alberta officer’s outstanding work in contributing beyond the job, and for the best exemplifying commitment, leadership, and service to their respective community, students and school(s).

Approximately six years ago, Cst. Lefebvre developed a program he named PAYOFF – Police Assisted Youth Orientated Formative Fitness. PAYOFF is an alternative program that youth involved in crime and/or general disorder may voluntarily participate in rather than paying a fine or facing criminal charges. The program, a fitness program, a boot camp in which youth are run through a demanding regime for a one-hour period, three times each week, while also building on the youth’s confidence and attitude towards society.

Cst. Lefebvre has proven to be a great role model to his students and the type of officer every officer should strive to be. He has gone above and beyond the call of duty as a School Resource Officer. For those reasons Cst. Lefebvre is very much deserving of this award.

Congratulations Cst. Lefebvre!
