About AASRO

Alberta Association of School Resource Officers

The Alberta Association of School Resource Officers (AASRO) was formed in 1998 to provide school resource officers in the province of Alberta with additional resources to enhance their ability to work with young people in the school system. It is the only organization for school resource officers in Canada.

The primary role of the school resource officer is to work proactively with students to have a positive impact on the choices that they make. School Resource Officers can have a tremendous influence on youth who have the greatest need.

The purpose of AASRO is to provide training opportunities, increased resource materials, a networking system, and up-to-date information on youth issues to police officers and others who are involved in the education of today’s youth.

AASRO is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The day-to-day operational and planning duties are performed by a full-time Program Coordinator, who is the only paid staff member.
